About Me

rw_console.jpgHere I am at hard at work at The Analog Realm recording studio in upstate NY. It's a cool room with nothing but (you guessed it) analog recording equipment. The only digital gear in the control room, other than delays, is an HHB CD burner and my Masterlink, to which we mix.

What's up with that console you ask? Well, it's a vintage 1973 Electrodyne-2000 and it's a cool sounding, fun desk. Rumor has it that the console came out of the Grand Ole Opry, but who knows. Our  tape machine of choice is an MCI JH-16, 2-inch, 16-track. We get some pretty brutal tone to tape with this signal chain. We also have lots of cool vintage outboard gear, and a truly world class mic-closet.

In case you hadn't already guessed, I am an audio engineer, and if any of you out there in web-land are interested in booking time with me and having me engineer your next musical project simply shoot me an email.

If you need a reference about my work, just email me and I will send you links to a few of my mixes, or check out the Jeremy Shaw, Neptune Ensemble CD and the Mark Werchowski, That's My Story CD. Incidentally, Mark's CD can be purchased at this link.

If you want to see those older shots of me in front of the Amek 9098i console, just click here, and here.

I like conversation, I like people, I like sharing, and I like collaborating. I may be an audio engineer by trade, but because I have to actually make a living, I have had to work a few somewhat unfulfilling day jobs.

Of late I've been feeling depressed and I've come to realize it's likely because of rather sterile jobs that do not encourage creativity. In fact they've discouraged it.

rw_console2.jpgThe powers-that-be (i.e. incompetent management) think that everything is an algorithm that can be predicted, measured, and fixed. I disagree. Everything you've ever been told is wrong.  Let's explore the gray area. Let's work outside the box. Let's break some conventions! Hell, let's CRASH some conventions!  I got rid of my old static site and started this new Blog, and hopefully this will provide at least some of the creative outlet my mind seems to be craving.

I also want to increase the amount of audio production that I am doing, and hope to put a plan into effect very soon which leads to this.

In my spare time I like to think, write, ride my bike, make pottery, play guitar, see movies, cook, enjoy wine, and do whatever it is that we do on the Internet.

Once upon a time, I even had a Podcast.
